January 2016 Legislative Update

We are just a few weeks away from the start of the 2016 legislative budget session which will begin on February 8, 2016 and will run until March 3, 2016. There are a handful of bills up on the Legislative Services Office website and more will be added daily between now and the start of the session. Congress wrapped up their work for the year in December and sent an omnibus spending and tax extender measure to the President for his signature. Retail Holiday Sales Increase 3 Percent

Holiday sales in 2015 increased 3 percent to $626.1 billion — solid growth considering the unforeseen weather events across the country and an extreme deflationary retail environment. NRF forecasted total growth, including online sales, of 3.7 percent. Non-store holiday sales grew 9 percent to $105 billion.  Read More »
