WRA Government Positions

WRA opposes increases in the gasoline tax if it is not used to expand and/or improve Wyoming’s highways.

WRA supports a vendor’s allowance for retailers.

WRA encourages the growth of e-commerce in Wyoming while fully supporting efforts to find a fair and equitable means for collecting sales and use tax on remote interstate sales.

WRA supports the Wyoming Business Council and will actively follow and participate in its activities. WRA also supports adequate funding for the Wyoming Office of Tourism.

WRA supports making the Wyoming minimum wage law the same as federal law.

WRA supports reasonable Medicaid reimbursement rates for pharmacies.

WRA opposes changes to the Workers Compensation laws that could raise rates in ways that will negatively affect employers and employees and opposes mandating that retail businesses enroll in the state plan.

WRA supports legislation that enhances or creates more effective penalties for retail theft and worthless checks.

WRA supports a retail sales tax holiday bill if one is proposed.

WRA supports proposals to make the tax base more broad based and less cyclical. However, WRA does not support new taxes on any specific business segment or product. Instead, revenue and expenditure policy should place the highest priority on economic development and development of resources.

WRA supports tort reform in order to more effectively control excessive costs to the health care system.
